Door locks are used to lock and secure doors. They are therefore essential components of every apartment and every house. Door locks not only offer protection against unauthorised access, but also contribute to security and convenience in everyday life.
Door locks are available in various designs, including
- Mortise locks: The mortise lock is a common and widely used lock model. The mortise lock is used particularly frequently for room, apartment and front doors and, depending on the door type, is used in rebate, flush fitting or metal frame doors, for example. The mortise lock is inserted into the door leaf
- and therefore requires a recess or groove. - Box locks: The box lock is a mechanical door lock that is housed in a rectangular casing, the so-called "box". It is screwed onto the door leaf from the inside. Models are available with external and internal cylinders, or with an external cylinder only, in which case a rotary knob is used for locking on the inside. It is often used in old or classic door systems and is characterised by its robust construction.
- Padlocks: The padlock is a portable lock in which the usually U-shaped shackle is inserted through a housing and can be opened with a key or numerical code. It is often used to secure doors, chains, luggage or other objects and is characterised by its ease of use and flexibility.
